Chiropractic Treatment
Chiropractic is a non-invasive, hands-on health care discipline that focuses on the nervous and musculoskeletal systems. Chiropractors take a manual approach to healing; they remove any interference to the nervous system which allows your own body to heal to its fullest potential. Our doctors are specifically trained to detect and correct problems in the spine and other parts of the body before you are even aware they exist.
Your spinal cord is protected by the bones (vertebra) of your spine. The spinal cord is the pathway for communication between the brain and the rest of the body. If there is a vertebra that is misaligned, it could irritate or interfere with nerve communication. This is important because the nervous system plays a key role in how your body functions. A chiropractor can help support the nervous system by relieving pressure on the nerves. This can help your body function at its maximum potential.
In between your vertebrae are intervertebral discs. Intervertebral discs are there to create space between the vertebrae, these discs allow for smooth movement and shock absorption in the spine. When a spine become misaligned the discs are put into a weakened state in which they may become herniated, bulged, or even ruptured. When these discs are dehydrated or start to degenerate, the vertebra will become too mobile leading to more and different problems later in life. Weak or damaged discs may also result in pinched nerves. Age can also cause the disc to become weak and dehydrated.
A disc can get injured in a car accident or during sports. Even if you are not hurting it is good to come in and get checked to keep your spine in optimal health.

Functional Medicine
WHAT IS FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE?
The new paradigm of metabolic analysis is called functional medicine. The overall goal is to maximize whole body function at all levels - cellular, genetic, emotional, mental and physical. The doctors may analyze urine, blood, stool, breath, hair or saliva specimens to evaluate various molecules such as heavy metal toxins, hormones, minerals, vitamins, fats, proteins, or organic acid chemicals, etc. In many cases very few laboratory tests need to be evaluated, and the doctor can assess a person through additional means and implement simple but highly effective nutritional suggestions.
When combined with the life changing treatments of chiropractic, nutritional supplementation and dietary changes can initiate significant recovery in patients with chronic health conditions. The following health problems typically have a primary nutritional and/or toxin imbalance as a root cause: chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel, migraines, skin dermatitis / eczema, autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, thyroiditis, etc., brain fog / memory issues, recurrent infections, weak immunity, asthma and many other conditions.
Functional medicine protocols have been developed that provide restoration of tissue function. Common treatments may focus on the digestive, immune and detoxification systems that have a calming effect on the whole body. By building a good foundation in these core control systems, the brain or hormone system can regulate and orchestrate the rest of the tissue functions at the highest level. The net effect is that patients begin to feel better with more energy and symptom reduction or reversal.

Animal Chiropractic
Many people are surprised to learn that our pets can be susceptible to the same musculoskeletal issues that humans are. they play, twist, fall, and age just like humans do.
Animal chiropractors are not particularly common, but Dr. Moe likes animals enough to have earned an entirely separate license and is fully certified to adjust the critters in your life.
If you know Dr. Moe at all, you know that she does nothing by halves, and you won’t be surprised to learn that dogs and cats are just the beginning of the long line of furry and feathery creatures she has cared for. She regularly tends to horses, birds and ferrets, among others. So, if you’re sitting at home with a limping ferret and are wondering, Would she be able to…? — the answer is probably “Yes.”
***ALL ANIMALS MUST HAVE A SIGNED FORM BY YOUR CURRENT VET*** before they can be adjusted. Please call us before your first appointment so that we can fax your vet the appropriate forms. No animal can be adjusted until we have consent from your veterinarian.

Massage Therapy
Massage therapy uses various techniques to manipulate your joints and soft tissue to improve your body’s health. Massage increases the body’s supply of oxygen and nutrients to your muscles, which helps release waste from the muscle tissue. Massage also accelerates your body's natural ability to heal itself.
Types of massage offered
-
Deep Tissue massage refers to a firmer, sometimes more intense massage. There are two schools of thought regarding deep tissue massage. One is where the pressure could be very intense and slightly uncomfortable, but releases the resistant tissues and gives immediate relief. The second is more gentle, sustained pressure to relieve pain. Both ways increase blood flow to tight, constricted muscles and increase movement in the affected areas.
-
Swedish massage is made up of five different strokes; effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, friction and vibration/shaking. Effleurage is a style where the hands slide or glide across the skin. Petrissage utilizes kneading. Tapotement uses rhythmic tapping. Friction is rubbing against the skin and can be used with the fibers or across them.
"Swedish" massage is the most commonly used style of massage. It can be very light to more intense, but the client always has the right to tell a therapist if it is too light or too intense. It generally induces a feeling of relaxation and relief from pain. Clinical studies have reported that this type of massage can reduce low back pain.
-
Trigger point therapy is a type of massage that works out localized tenderness or pain. The trigger point is a spot within a muscle that, when depressed, refers to a different area of the body. An example: a tight spot in the shoulder refers up to the base of the skull when pressed. It can cause some discomfort, the area affected may become warm, or there may be a twitching response before the pain dissipates. This form of massage can be used in conjunction with other types of massage. A massage therapist may request that the client take slow, relaxing breaths, as well as, help identify areas of discomfort.
-
When people hear "Sports Massage", they typically think of Olympic athletes or sports stars, but the truth is that anyone that is active can benefit from this style of massage. Marathon or triathletes and runners, as well as, body builders, bicyclists, hobby athletes, and really anyone, can have injuries and accidents. Sports massage helps rehabilitate after an injury. It also helps those who actively push their bodies recover after an event, increase their performance during training or a function. It focuses on decreasing inflammation, increasing range of motion and reducing pain. It focuses on the area affected, instead of a full body massage. The therapist may give the client recommendations of heating, icing, or show them stretching techniques.
-
Pre-natal/Pregnancy/Post-Natal massage all refer to massage while a woman is pregnant. Massage is highly recommended before, during and after pregnancy. At Moe Bodyworks, the massage therapists utilize pregnancy bolsters, which support the breasts and belly and allow for work down the back, buttocks, and legs. The therapists also utilize side-laying techniques. This type of massage helps elevate the "feel good" hormones, relieve stress, as well as, decrease pain and inflammation.
Overall Wellness and Relaxation

Acupuncture
WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?
Acupuncture is the insertion of hair-thin, sterile needles into the body to activate special receptors which communicate with the body's central nervous, endocrine, and cardiovascular systems, resulting in the release of natural pain killing substances and dilation of blood vessels, delivering oxygen and nutrient rich blood, hormones, and immune factors to sick areas of the body.
HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?
Acupuncture works like a light switch.
Just as with a light you don't have to go to the light to turn it on you can flip the switch on the wall. This is an example of distal acupuncture and just like the lights in an office building, distal acupuncture points are strong and can turn on many lights with just one switch.
Some lights are different, such as a lamp where you turn on the light by flipping the switch that is on the lamp. This is an example of local acupuncture; each point turns on a light like the lamp.
Sometimes, when you flip the switch, the light doesn't turn on, and then you need to take more action such as changing the bulb. This is an example of sports/orthopedic acupuncture where you use more stimulation to directly release tight muscle knots or trigger points.
What to expect during a treatment?
The acupuncturist will ask your top three health concerns.
Based on examination and diagnosis using Chinese medicine principles, the acupuncturist will determine which style of acupuncture will be best for your specific case.
You will relax in a quiet comfortable room. The acupuncturist will place the points needed for your condition and while the points are in place you will relax for about 30 minutes.
The acupuncturist will come in periodically during your treatment to make sure you are comfortable, and also to stimulate the points. Be sure not to hesitate to communicate with the acupuncturist if you have any questions or feel any discomfort during the treatment.
The treatment may be ended with additional therapies or advice such as: cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, herbal, exercise, or diet advice. Each session will take about 1 hour. Please schedule a consult to discuss whether acupuncture is right for you!
WHAT IS CUPPING?
Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction.
Cupping helps with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation, and well-being, and is also a type of deep-tissue massage.
Pregnancy Care
Pregnant women, despite being in a more delicate condition, can gain numerous benefits from chiropractic care. Those seeking holistic treatment can access both prenatal and postnatal care, enjoying various advantages with minimal risks of side effects effects.
Pregnant women often face issues with their pelvic balance. Many women undergo pelvic changes during pregnancy. When the pelvis is misaligned, it can limit the space. Chiropractors can adjust the pelvis to prevent this issue, also known as intrauterine constraint. This can help reduce the chances of having breech babies or requiring a cesarean delivery.
Many women experience back pain during pregnancy due to the extra weight they carry in the front of their bodies. The protruding abdomen can increase the curve in the back, leading to pain and posture problems. Chiropractors can help restore proper posture and prevent the stress of pregnancy from causing long-term pain and posture issues.
Chiropractic care has been shown to alleviate some uncomfortable symptoms associated with pregnancy. Regular chiropractic treatment can help women maintain their health during pregnancy, relieve joint and neck pain, and manage symptoms of nausea.
Women who receive regular chiropractic care are supporting their nervous system, which many have found helps their bodies to better handle the childbirth process. When the nervous system functions properly, the entire body operates as it should. Accordingly, numerous women who receive chiropractic care during pregnancy experience shorter labor and delivery times. The body goes through various changes during pregnancy, which can make any woman feel uncomfortable as she adapts to the physical and hormonal shifts that it brings. Additionally, many women are concerned about the health and safety of their baby during this crucial developmental period. To ensure the best care for both mother and baby, it is essential to maintain the body with regular chiropractic care.
Chiropractors are highly trained to gently provide adjustments for pregnant women. Many chiropractors not only have special techniques to help keep mothers safe and comfortable during adjustments, but also use tools such as pregnancy pillows to assist them. Pregnant mothers who take the time to visit a chiropractor during their pregnancy will find that their overall experience can be more comfortable and enjoyable, as they keep their bodies and babies healthy.
Sports Chiropractic
and Athletic Injuries
Whether you are an Olympic athlete or a weekend warrior, there are always ways to improve your performance. Proper neural communication between the muscles and the brain can enhance your reflex time, flexibility, strength, circulation, recovery, coordination, and control. It’s also important for preventing future injuries or re-injury, especially those caused by repetitive stress common in sports. Chiropractic care not only helps when you are striving to reach new goals, but it can also aid recovery after an injury. Ensuring that the joint moves through its full and proper range of motion will facilitate healing and speed up recovery, especially when working with a physical therapist.

Nutrition Counseling
FOCUS ON YOUR HEALTH
There are many aspects of our lives that are beyond our control. Sometimes, life circumstances, stress, toxicity, and other negative events lie outside our sphere of influence. Nutrition, however, is fully within our control. Few factors can directly impact your health and mindset like your food choices.
At Moe Bodyworks, we recognize that nutritional needs vary from person to person, and we strive to personalize food and nutraceuticals to optimize individual requirements.
We specialize in weight management, body composition, and addressing both acute and chronic health concerns.
Workplace Wellness
According to the CDC,
“On average, Americans working full-time spend more than one-third of their day, five days a week, at the workplace"
Our effective workplace evaluations and recommendations can help reduce health risks and improve the quality of life for Minnesota workers. Each job presents mechanical and postural challenges that impact health and alignment.
Allow us to evaluate your workplace and provide a presentation on ways to enhance posture, lifting techniques, stretches, and exercises. These strategies can alleviate general aches and pains, improve breathing, reduce stress levels, and aid digestion.
Zerona Laser Fat Removal
The cold laser technology behind the Zerona procedure was shown to exclusively release the cellular contents of fat cells while leaving the capillaries and other cells within the interstitial space intact. The release of the fat cell contents is the result of the disruption of the cell’s membrane. This membrane disruption, called a transitory pore, is the result of low-level laser stimulation.
Through a double blind, randomized, multi-site and placebo-controlled study, the Zerona procedure is proven to be an effective non-invasive and body contouring procedure. On average, clients lost on average 3.64 inches from the circumference of their waist, hip and thighs, whereas the placebo group only lost an average of a half of an inch.
The Zerona cold lasers provide clients with a safer alternative to surgical procedures, which can result in bruising, swelling, and damage to other tissues. There is no need to wear bandages with Zerona and since there is no pain, there is no need for anesthesia. Unlike other non-invasive approaches, Zerona low-level lasers do not rely on heating tissue, which can cause discomfort. There is no downtime, so clients can resume their normal activities immediately.
ZERONA® is a non-invasive body contouring procedure using the Erchonia® Laser Scanner. The multi-site clinical trial conducted by Erchonia® to validate the process focused on the abdomen, hips and thighs. The Zerona low-level laser therapy is approved for use on these target areas. Most doctors’ offices have the client lie on a comfortable table for 20 minutes on each side while the six lasers are applied to the target areas simultaneously.
Thousands have tried this procedure, and have lost an average of 3.72 inches around the waist. Imagine going from a large to a medium, or a medium to a small, just by relaxing for forty minutes, a few times a week.
For a non-invasive, alternative medical solution to the traditional fat removal procedures and surgeries, consider use of the ZERONA® laser procedure. Contact our office for more information. *Individual results may vary
