Chiropractic is a non-invasive, hands-on health care discipline that focuses on the nervous and musculoskeletal systems. Chiropractors take a manual approach to healing; they remove any interference to the nervous system which allows your own body to heal to its fullest potential. Our doctors are specifically trained to detect and correct problems in the spine and other parts of the body before you are even aware they exist.
Your spinal cord is protected by the bones (vertebra) of your spine. The spinal cord is the pathway for communication between the brain and the rest of the body. If there is a vertebra that is misaligned, it could irritate or interfere with nerve communication. This is important because the nervous system plays a key role in how your body functions. A chiropractor can help support the nervous system by relieving pressure on the nerves. This can help your body function at its maximum potential.
In between your vertebrae are intervertebral discs. Intervertebral discs are there to create space between the vertebrae, these discs allow for smooth movement and shock absorption in the spine. When a spine become misaligned the discs are put into a weakened state in which they may become herniated, bulged, or even ruptured. When these discs are dehydrated or start to degenerate, the vertebra will become too mobile leading to more and different problems later in life. Weak or damaged discs may also result in pinched nerves. Age can also cause the disc to become weak and dehydrated.
A disc can get injured in a car accident or during sports. Even if you are not hurting it is good to come in and get checked to keep your spine in optimal health.
